Amazon introduces Bee Frontier and Eclipse AI note-taking devices, starting at $74.99

According to TechCrunch, Amazon-owned Bee has introduced two devices that turn conversations into summaries and tasks. Frontier is available on Amazon, with Eclipse due later. Basic summaries are free, but integrations require a subscription.

Bee Frontier and Bee Eclipse are designed to capture conversations without handwritten notes—from meeting decisions and lectures to plans with friends. Their main purpose is to produce AI-generated text summaries, not an audio archive for playback.

How the devices differ

Bee Frontier, priced at $74.99, can be worn on your wrist or clipped to clothing. The company says it offers up to seven days of battery life, USB-C charging, two noise-filtering microphones, and an IP67 dust- and water-resistance rating.

Bee Eclipse, priced at $99.99, is a credit-card-sized device that attaches magnetically to the back of a smartphone. At the time of TechCrunch’s report, Frontier was available on Amazon, with Eclipse expected to follow soon.

Both devices have a single on/off button and an indicator light that shows when they are summarizing a conversation. Notes are accessible through a companion mobile app and a new desktop app.

What’s free—and what requires a subscription

The free tier provides conversation summaries and 14 days of memory. Bee Pro, at $11.99 per month, adds unlimited summaries, suggested tasks, a personal chat assistant, conversation templates, and integrations with Amazon.com, Alexa+, and third-party apps.

Supported productivity services include Gmail, Google Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook. Bee can draft emails, schedule meetings, and pull action items from discussions. That makes the subscription part of the buying decision: if you want email and calendar integrations, you’ll need Pro.

How to start and what to consider

To get started, choose Frontier on Amazon and use its companion mobile app. A sensible first test is a short conversation without sensitive information: review the summary, then check names, dates, and commitments. Consider the subscription after seeing how useful the notes are.

According to the company’s description, raw audio is processed in real time and then deleted. Transcripts are encrypted with keys created and controlled by the device. Amazon says even its employees cannot access them unless the user intentionally shares them. Connecting Alexa is optional, and transcripts and summaries can be deleted.

These are the company’s security claims, not findings from an independent assessment. Before using Bee in a work meeting, get participants’ agreement to recording and check your organization’s policies.
